2 inch riot
The project investigates the increasing radicalisation, ridiculing, and the exaggerated media coverage of its community. Every day, we are confronted with the most atrocious images revealing the decayed state that people fall into. Thanks to the latest mobile technology and far-reaching globalisation, we are bombarded almost continuously with a stream of extreme images that are supposed to make us gasp for breath. It’s as if we’re all eyewitnesses in an almost complicit manner. And it hardly affects us any more.
This project is not looking for answers, but rather asks questions about who we are as human beings and what our responsibility is in society. Are we going to keep watching? Are we going to revolt? What is at stake? What are we willing to lose and how far are we willing to go?
2-inch-riot is a project developed in collaboration with Flacc and was sustained by the Stroom development grant.
